Nice video of the Xperia X10

Sony-Ericsson-Xperia-X10

Blimey, two Xperia stories in one day? The phonescoop takes a look at the gorgeous Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. I know, I know the X3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 were oddly skipped out, perhaps they will release a bunch of phone with lesser specs around the same time. However, I can safely say from the video, I want one.

Is the gPhone real?

google-vision-concept

Many have thought that after the announcement of Google Android, it would be the last we’ve heard of the Google Gphone. Apparently, the GPhone is not only software but also hardware. More precisely, Google is actually making a phone.

Techcrunch is saying that the Google Phone will be more exciting than the Motorola Droid and even the following super Android phones that will come–Droid and the HTC Dragon will serve as a warm up to–how do we say, The One?

Google will not instantly go to manufacturing–the phone will be made by a big mobile company, perhaps Motorola again? Google is said to be in total control, though, as far as design and specs, and the phone will not carry any other brand but Google’s. The manufacturer could be Taiwanese or Korean, but the safe bet goes to either LG or Samsung. The Google Phone will be backed up by a major advertising drive. It’s going to be Apple vs Google after today and in the foreseeable future, and Google will have another solid source of revenue, besides their Adwords.

No 6.5 for Xperia X1

xperiax1nowm6.5_thumb

According to wmpoweruser there is to be no 6.5 update for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. This will probably anger a number of people out there as the phone is quite popular. Read on for the full article:

Smashing earlier rumours that suggested an official Windows Mobile 6.5 update for the Xperia X1 will be coming, Sony Ericsson has confirmed the contrary to CNet Asia.

Some owners may be rightfully upset by this, as the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 has been one of the more expensive handsets of recent times, and while ROM’s are available on XDA-Developers they are not blessed with official updated drivers, meaning they would have issues not present in an official release.

The device joins other premium devices such as the HTC Touch HD in not getting updates to the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile OS.

Sony Ericsson Aino unboxing video

Last week our friends over at Clove Technology sent over the Sony Ericsson Aino for us to take a look at. First impressions were that it was much like any other slider-style handset, it has a 3″ limited functionality touch-screen a numeric pad under the sliding screen and 8.1 mega pixel digital camera. It’s not until you turn the Aino on that you realise that the screen is a little different to your average mobile – it’s a full 16.7 million colour display. Now you may wonder if that makes any difference and looking at the spec, I wondered the same, but when you watch video or look at photos on this handset, there’s a clear difference.

As well as having that lovely display, the other thing that sets the Aino apart is that it comes complete with a mini docking station and a bluetooth headset with media controls. An excellent idea!

So we’re in the middle of reviewing the Sony Ericsson Aino at the moment and we’ll have that for you over the next week or so. For now then take a look at the unboxing video to see what’s included.

HTC HD2 battery problems?

If you have been following our coverage of the HTC HD2 you’ll probably know that I’ve mentioned the battery life of the HTC HD2 on more than one occasion. The first review handset that we looked at was a pre-release unit and I initially had problems with poor battery life. After a few days the battery did seem to improve so I put the lack of stamina down to the fact that it was a review unit that may not have been so well looked after and that the pre-release ROM may not have been optimised.

However, James now has a full retail version of the HTC HD2 and is experiencing poor battery life and we’ve had a few comments on the forum from new HD2 owners saying that they are getting usage times measured in hours, one reader getting just a few hours of battery life when playing MP3’s despite having the screen turned OFF!

That said, we have also heard from others that they have no problems with their battery life and that they are getting a few days usage without having to recharge.

SO, if you are an HTC HD2 owner we want to hear from you! Please use the forum link below and come and tell us what your experiences are, good or bad!

We shall be getting another HD2 in a week or so and will test that out too!
