Palm Pixi Videos

9525_158210250478_32915930478_4025145_6305443_a

PreCentral.net has a hands on video with then Pixi, I’ve attached both videos below. Thin, touchstone, 2mg cam, 8gb, 3.5 headphone jack, removable back covers. Looking quite a bit like a cartoon flattened Palm Treo Pro without most of the nicer lines the Pro had. It’s kind of bland and the screen looks like it could have been bigger, but obvious the gesture zone need to take up a certain amount of space. Specs and vids after the break

Samsung Omnia HD & Nokia N97 Software Updates

We recently reviewed both the Omnia HD and the Nokia N97 and found them to be good devices. Now with software updates due shortly both handsets will give an even better user experience.

The Samsung updates include a new QWERTY keyboard, 3D task switcher like on the Omnia2, new widgets and bug fixes for the web browser and media player.

The Nokia will receive kinetic scrolling, the keyboard will show an alternative character when the key is pressed and held,  music player improvements and a few new widgets.

The Samsung update has already been released in Russia and Hong Kong so im sure it wont be long until we see it here in the UK. Unfortunately Nokia users will have to wait until next month for their’s.

Release confirmation will be posted in our forum.

New Palm Pixi

9525_158210250478_32915930478_4025145_6305443_a Palm wouldn’t be trying to steal a little thunder from Apple’s announcement today? Well here is the Palm Pixi, Nifty little device spotted on Facebook earlier today.

All the power of Palm webOS — including multitasking activity cards, Palm Synergy, intuitive notifications, and universal search — will soon be available in a striking new form factor. Palm Pixi — due on the Sprint network in time for the holidays — is Palm’s thinnest phone ever. With a visible full keyboard and rubberized back cover, Palm Pixi is especially handy for extensive messaging and social networking.

Win a SanDisk Sansa Express

Well the forums have been up for a week already and I am pleased with how things are going. Plenty of you have already entered the Samsung i7500 Galaxy competition and Toshiba TG01 competition. If you haven’t yet entered you have until the end of September to do so – head over to the competitions forum for the low down or follow the links above.

It’s taking a while for Google to get around to indexing all the new pages but it’s getting there!

So with the first week out of the way I thought I would throw a random prize out there and offer the SanDisk Sansa Express MP3 player, that we reviewed a while ago, as a prize to the 30th person to correctly find the answer to the following question and send the answer to me via PRIVATE MESSAGE (PM) on the forum.

image

QUESTION: Tracy and I have a daughter – what is her name?

This will make you work a little bit and get you searching on the forum! The answer IS on there!

So head over to the forum and PM me your answer. You have to be a registered forum member to PM but you can sign up any time!

Don’t forget the other competitions are there for you too and there will be more over the next three weeks.

I’ll announce the winner of the competition tomorrow morning. GOOD LUCK!

Motorola MB200, MB300 Discovered

moto3

What do we have here? It looks like the Motorola MB200 and Motorola MB300 have found a home for their very own UA Profiles on the Motorola website. Along with the profiles come some specs that seem to suggest the MB200 is or might be the Morrison while the MB300 could be the Calgary or another unnamed handset. Some specs discussed include:

Motorola MB200:

  • QWERTY Keyboard
  • Qualcomm MSM 7200A processor (528MHz)
  • 320×480 pixel touchscreen
  • WCDMA connectivity
  • VGA Camera

Motorola MB300:

  • QWERTY Keyboard
  • Qualcomm MSM 7200A processor (528MHz)
  • 320×480 pixel touchscreen
  • WCDMA connectivity
  • 5MP VGA Camera

These two devices seem to be very similar with the latter (M300) having a better camera. If the suspense is killing you, you’ll be happy to know that Thursday will likely lift that burden. Hang in there and keep refreshing!

Samsung i5700 Galaxy Lite spied

samsung_i5700_galaxy_lite_1-540x455The Samsung Galaxy Android smartphone has been well known for a while. Today a sibling to the device called the Samsung i5700 Galaxy Lite has been spied in a retina burning green hue.

The handset has a 3.2MP camera with 1GB of internal storage compared to the normal Galaxy’s 8GB of storage and 5MP camera. The slick AMOLED screen is left and a microSD card slot is offered. The production version will apparently lack the cool green battery cover of the device pictured here.

LG Etna Android phone gets spotted in IFA 2009

lg-etna-android

Similar to the HTC Dream, LG’s maiden Android offering comes with a slide-out full QWERTY keypad to complement its 3-inch touchscreen display but is certainly more stylish than the former. We’re not sure what its complete specs are, but it is confirmed to feature a 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. Based on the picture and limited information we have at the moment, it’s actually not that bad, and knowing LG, this baby will be very competitive as far as pricing goes.

So, how about you guys? How do you find the LG Etna so far?

Orange & T-Mobile to have a UK merge?

This morning via Twitter, Orange said that they have entered into negotiations into a possible merge with T-Mobile in the UK.

Several news websites have confirmed that the merge is happening but until it comes from Orange or T-Mobile I wont be counting my chickens before they have hatched.

It will certainly be good news in terms of coverage if the merge goes ahead, expanding both 2G & 3G coverage throughout the country.

I wonder what they will call the company and will the new “super shops” have an orange or a purple logo!

If its does happen it will create the UK’s biggest network provider holding 37%!

Any further news will be posted here.

Sony Twilight – just how do you promote low light sensor

Sony have a new CMOS Sensor (the Exmor RTTM) which is apparently able to better capture detail and fast-moving action in low light filming conditions. So just how do you get people to hear about a new CMOS, with a viral video like this.

Because ordinary football/soccer is just too passé.

HTC Tattoo for sale at Clove

C1BFBBF5-E4F9-4B12-8A53-D6D532EFA214

The HTC Tattoo is the brand new Android handset from HTC.  Codenamed the HTC Click, the HTC Tattoo follows hot on the heels of the HTC Hero.

With a similar form factor to the new HTC Touch2, the HTC Tattoo has all the features you would expect of an Android and HTC device.

The benefit of this over many others?  It’s mass market appeal!!
