Microsoft Store confirmed by Steve Ballmer

Pocket Pc Thoughts1210831667.usr8 have reported “Steve Ballmer, at the recently held developers conference at Sydney, Australia, said that Microsoft is working on a App-store like software distribution. Apple’s iPhone and App-store have really stirred the Windows Mobile Market. Though there are many ‘app-store like’ distributions, for example – Handango, they are not something that is offered directly from Microsoft. But at the same time Ballmer also mentioned there are no plans to mimic iPhone’s App-store.”

T-Mobile UK network problems

image It appears that T-Mobile have been having some major network issues in London today. One of our forum members Dave Hush told us he had not had a signal on T-mobile since about 9am this morning, he had spoken to T-mobile customer services and apparently the network was down this morning for a few hours. First time we have heard of such a major outage, anybody else been affected by this.

Vodafone struggling to meet Storm demand

image Vodafone, the world’s largest mobile phone group by revenue, is struggling to meet demand for the new Blackberry Storm phone, its chief executive said on Thursday. Vittorio Colao told a small group of journalists after a speech at an Ofcom event that the phone was selling very well. “We might end up having a problem with giving enough Storms to as many customers who want it,” he said. “It’s going very well, we might be short of them, to be honest.”

Toshiba G450 Is a Modem, Phone, MP3 Player and USB Memory Stick

When I first saw news of this phone I thought, great another concept phone. Don’t get me wrong, I like concept phones but how many of then really turn out to come alive? Not a lot I’d say. The Toshiba G450 in this case was not a concept, it was real which was a big surprise to me.

I’m sure there are many phones out there with the capability to do all 4 functions listed on this device but how many of them have you seen in this form factor?

Obviously the G450 is bigger than your regular memory stick but then you come to expect that given that it has to cope with a screen and two rotary keypads. Functions SMS messages aren’t a problem either except when trying to get used to the keypad I’d imagine.

The downside is that the stick offers only 160MB of storage space so you won’t get that many songs on MP3 player but with the price tag at only £140 in the UK I say it’s worth it.
